Sophia Soraya is a Partner with the Firm. Concentrating on various, complex civil matters, Ms. Soraya’s practice includes personal injury, professional malpractice, and product liability in both New York and New Jersey.
Client communication is of utmost importance to Ms. Soraya, as she recognizes that her clients are battling an injury, some of which cannot be seen. Ms. Soraya believes that psychological injuries are equally as important as physical injuries. As such, she strives to ensure that her client’s voices are truly heard.
Whether by foot, car, or train, Ms. Soraya has handled a variety of personal injury claims while at the Firm. Most recently, she served as co-counsel for an individual who was on board the New Jersey Transit train when it crashed into Hoboken station in 2016, injuring hundreds and killing one. Ms. Soraya has also gained extensive experience in trucking litigation while at the Firm.
Prior to joining the Firm, Ms. Soraya commenced her legal career at a boutique law firm, where she handled a variety of matters, including, but not limited to, personal injury (Car accidents, motorcycle accidents, construction accidents, slip and falls, dog bites, and wrongful deaths), criminal defense, and appellate practice. During her career as an attorney, Ms. Soraya has recovered millions of dollars on behalf of her clients.
A graduate of New England Law (Boston), Ms. Soraya served as Student Attorney for the In-House Law Clinic and was actively involved with the Student Bar Association. She also served as a Mentor in the Mentorship Program for incoming first-year law students. During her summers, Ms. Soraya interned for the Hon. Donald R. Venezia, J.S.C (ret.) in the Bergen County Superior Court and served as a research and teaching assistant for Associate Dean Judith G. Greenberg.
Ms. Soraya received her Bachelor of Science in Crime, Law, and Justice with Minors in both Sociology and Law and Liberal Arts from The Pennsylvania State University. She graduated with high honors (magna cum laude) and was a recipient of the Liberal Arts scholarship. She was also a member of the Alpha Phi Sigma and Alpha Kappa Delta honor societies. During her time at Penn State, Ms. Soraya was actively involved with the Dance MaraTHON, which is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world that raises awareness and financial support for children and families impacted by pediatric cancer.
Ms. Soraya was born and raised in Bergen County, New Jersey, where she currently resides with her husband and children. She also is fluent in Farsi.
